SCIENCE CITY OF MUÑOZ — A man was killed while his companion was injured when they were thrown from a moving truck that was carrying them along the provincial road here on Friday, police said.
Arvin Biendima, a truck helper, died on the spot while Joseph Tamina was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police said the two men were sitting on top of sacks of palay (unmilled rice) loaded into the truck driven by Jefferson Pascual when the accident happened.
While negotiating the Muñoz-Guimba road, the truck driver abruptly swerved to avoid another vehicle, causing the palay binds to loosen and the victims to be thrown out of the truck, investigators said.
The driver is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and physical injuries, police said. Armand Galang/lzb
