Brother of slain ‘gang leader’ nabbed in Isabela

SAN PABLO, ISABELA — Police arrested the brother of a suspected gang leader in Barangay Dalena here on Saturday for illegal possession of firearms.

Senior Insp. Frances Littaua, Isabela police spokesperson, identified the arrested suspect as Julian Mamauag, 46, a farmer and a brother of slain suspected gang leader Rey Mamauag of the Mamauag Group.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Felipe Jesus Torio II of the Regional Trial Court Branch 22, police seized several guns and ammunition from the suspect’s house.

The Mamauag group was tagged in the robbing of Metrobank in Cagayan and other similar cases in Isabela and Cagayan recently. Villamor Visaya Jr./lzb
