NPD nabs man for illegal possession of firearms, ammo

MANILA, Philippines — A man was arrested by the Valenzuela City police on Friday for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

A report from the Northern Police District (NPD) identified the suspect as Ariel Alberto, 48.

He was arrested at his residence in Barangay Maysan in Valenzuela City by virtue of a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Maria Nena Santos of the Regional Trial Court Branch 171 in Valenzuela City.

The police seized from the suspect one 12 gauge Armscor shotgun, one cal. 22 rifle, four cal. 38 revolvers, one cal. 32 revolver, one cal. 22 magnum black widow revolver, one cal. 22 airgun rifle and one replica of airsoft pistol.

Also seized from the suspect were 96 pieces ammunition for 12 gauge shotgun, 72 pieces cal. 38 ammunition, 95 pieces cal. 22 magnum ammunition, 163 cal. 22 ammunition, 50 pieces cal. 32 ammunition, 16 pieces cal. 380 ammunition, 5 cal. 38 revolver holsters and two brown pistol holsters.

The report said that Alberto and the confiscated items were brought to the Station Investigation Unit of Valenzuela city police station for proper disposition.

A complaint for Violation of RA. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act against the arrested suspect will be filed via an inquest proceeding before the City Prosecutor’s Office of Valenzuela City. /jpv
