New Manila Archbishop installed in solemn rites
MANILA, Philippines – Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle has been formally installed as the 32nd archbishop of Manila.
In solemn rites at the Manila Cathedral Monday, the apostolic letter from Pope Benedict XVI was read appointing Tagle as the new shepherd of Catholics in the archdiocese, which covers Manila and the cities of Makati, Pasay, San Juan, and Mandaluyong.
Among the dignitaries present were Chief Justice Renato Corona, who sat just behind President Benigno Aquino III’s sisters Balsy, Viel, and Pinky.
US ambassador Harry Thomas was also sighted.
