MANILA, Philippines – Heads of government agencies and local government units (LGUs) may suspend rules on office uniforms due to the water crisis in parts of Metro Manila and Rizal, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) said Friday.
“We understand that there may be employees affected by water shortage who are unable to regularly wash their office uniforms. We do not want this to become a reason for their absence from work and to eventually cause problems in productivity,” CSC said in a statement.
Under CSC rules and regulations, appropriate dress code of government workers must be “prescribed by agency heads through the issuance of internal policies.”
Should the office uniform rule be suspended, however, CSC stressed that government employees must still wear clothing in accordance with civil service guidelines.
“The usual guidelines will apply such as no sleeveless clothes, no revealing outfit, no shorts, no mini skirt. Government employees are aware of these guidelines,” CSC said.
