LOOK: Binay introduces ‘BFF’ this summer

MANILA, Philippines — Senator Nancy Binay has a new “BFF” this summer– a pail and a dipper.

“My BFF this summer #WalangTubig #TimbaAtTabo,” Binay  said in a tweet  on Friday.

Manila Water started on Thursday, Mar. 14, its scheduled water service interruptions which can last from six to 21 hours.

Binay earlier aired her dismay at the conflicting statements on the water shortage in Metro Manila.

“Ang sabi ng MWSS  (Manila Waterworks and Sewerage System) at Pagasa meron sapat na supply ng tubig ang Angat Dam. Ang sabi naman ng Manila Water kulang na raw ang tubig kaya may shortage, pero ang Maynilad, willing magpahiram ng tubig sa Manila Water,” she said in a statement.

The senator also said there should be a “clear policy” on maintaining water security and pointed the country’s lack of policy and readiness to address such an issue.

“We should have a clear policy on maintaining water security whenever water supply goes bad,” she said.

“Matagal na tayong aware sa climate change maging sa El Niño. Nangyayari ang ganitong krisis sa tubig dahil walang malinaw na polisiya at kahandaan,” she added. /muf
