While the Christmas Village of Hope helps children with cancer through the Kythe Foundation, the Christmas Trees of Hope is intended for the streetchildren under the Cebu City Task Force on Street Children headed by Councilor Margot Osmeña.
The Christmas Trees of Hope accepts donations to help raise funds for the programs and services intended for the streetchildren, including formal education, health, advocacy, recovery, skills training, street education, mobile school, mobile library, temporary shelter, nutrition, values formation, capability building, psychosocial interventions, early child care and development, income generation projects and legal assistance.
The Cebu City Task Force on Street Children is an alliance of non-government and government organizations in Cebu City committed for the protection and promotion of the rights of street children.
The task force also coordinates with the Cebu City government to create awareness, provide care and support to children and street children, at the same time lobby for child protection policies and standards to ensure full development of children.
To donate, please approach the Cebu City Task Force on Street Children personnel at the registration area at The Northwing of SM City Cebu and fill-out a form.
For every P500 donated, a shopper will have the privilege to write his or her name on the Christmas Balls provided, and hang on the Christmas Trees of Hope.
SM City Cebu celebrates Christmas full of Hope for young children with special needs.
The Christmas Trees of Hope will run alongside Christmas Village of Hope until Jan. 2.
Funds raised from the Christmas Village of Hope will be used for the chemotherapy and other laboratory procedures of the children with cancer.
