MANILA, Philippines — Police have accosted the person behind the hacking to death of a woman, whose body was found dumped at a creek in Malinao, Aklan on Monday.
According to police, 27-year-old suspect Mar Jun Victoriano allegedly killed his aunt, 41-year-old Irene Victoriano, after she accused him of raping her cow.
In a phone interview with INQUIRER.net on Wednesday, case investigator SPO2 Josefino Baldomero said the suspect was looking for “ubod ng niyog” in a forest in Barangay (village) Sugnod last Sunday when a cow, owned by the victim, apparently got startled by his presence and scampered.
The aunt reportedly saw the incident and quickly accused her nephew of raping the animal, judging by the cow’s reaction, Baldomero said. The victim even threatened to report the alleged rape of the cow to village officials, the police officer added.
This irked the suspect, who then hacked his aunt multiple times and dumped her body at a nearby creek, Baldomero also said.
On Monday, Baldomero said the victim’s body was discovered by her brother. The woman’s body bore hack wounds in the head and neck.
