MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has started the case build-up process against national candidates who violated the election campaign rules, its spokesperson said on Wednesday.

“Sa ngayon, may mga nagsimula na ng proseso ng pagkakaso laban sa national candidates. Nasa case build up na tayo so we can’t reveal yet the names of the persons that have been cited, but we are proceeding with that,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez told reporters.

“At the same time, tingnan natin kung matutuloy yung pagfifile. Kung maganda yung pag cacase build up, then matutuloy tayo diyan,” he added.

(We will see if the filing of charges will push through.  If the case build-up is good, the filing may proceed.)

No clues were given on the identities of the candidates concerned in order not to preempt the case.

Jimenez earlier said that the commission already sent out notices to candidates with campaign poster violations.
