MANILA, Philippines — A suspected drug personality was killed in an alleged shootout with the police in Caloocan City on Wednesday.

Police said operatives of the Station Special Operations Unit and the Station Drug Enforcement Unit in Caloocan City were conducting surveillance on the suspect identified as Chrisanto Patimo, 42, alias Toteng. He, however, sensed the presence of the lawmen and suddenly fired at the police officers.

The operatives then retaliated, with PO1 Jomar Regacho firing the fatal shot to the suspect. Patimo died on the spot, according to police.

Police recovered from the crime scene 19 sachets of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth), a sachet of suspected marijuana, digital weighing scale, 9mm pistol and a magazine loaded with five bullets, nine bullet casings, a slug, two small pieces of paper printed with photos of three unidentified persons, and a sling bag. /je
