MANILA, Philippines — The Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Cebu Chapter is appealing to witnesses to the brutal killing of a Grade 9 student in Lapu-Lapu City to come out and help the police in identifying the perpetrators.

In a statement Wednesday, the lawyers’ organization committed to providing legal service to ensure the prosecution of the culprits.

“We call upon witnesses to come out and speak for the early resolution of this dastardly act,” the IBP-Cebu said.

“The Chapter for its part if given the chance will provide legal service to aid in the prosecution of the culprits to this vicious crime when caught,” it added as it condemned the killing of 17-year old Christine Silawan, whose face was skinned and believed to have been raped.

It urged the public to be extra vigilant “against all dangers to our children.” /cbb
