Nazi swastika fliers were found posted around Newport Harbor High School in California just days after Eva Schloss, Holocaust survivor and Anne Frank’s stepsister, paid a visit.
Schloss was compelled to visit the school after some of its students were photographed doing the Nazi salute while standing around a swastika made of red cups during a house party early this March.
The teens involved in the incident have since apologized after the community expressed their outrage. But roughly a week after Schloss’ visit, swastika fliers were found decking the high school, as per The Los Angeles Times on March 12. Authorities received a call on Sunday, March 10, that at least 10 fliers bearing swastikas had been posted around the school.
School principal Sean Boulton said in a statement that the fliers were immediately removed after school officials discovered them.
“Again, we condemn all acts of anti-Semitism and hate in all their forms,” Boulton was quoted as saying. “We will continue to be vigilant with our stance and the care of our students and staff.”
The authorities are still investigating the incident. Some students, meanwhile, encouraged kindness by placing handwritten messages around the school on Monday, March 11.
