NBI collars 7 Chinese nationals for kidnapping

MANILA, Philippines — Seven Chinese nationals were arrested for kidnapping a fellow Chinese in Parañaque City, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said Tuesday.

NBI Director Dante Gierran identified the suspects as Luo Gen Jin, Cheng Yiguo, Liu Shenghui, Deng Shuijin, Xiong Jinxiang, Xiong Jongpeng and Xiong Jilong.

The suspects were arrested after NBI agents received a complaint from kidnap victim Jian Shi Xin’s brother Jian Shi Lun.

Lun told authorities that his brother was abducted by Chinese nationals at am gaming facility in Paranaque City.

He added that his brother the victim was detained in a condominium unit in Manila.

The suspects allowed the victim to call his family members to ask for P200,000 ransom.

Lun, however, failed to locate the suspects’ condominium unit and opted to  wire the money instead.

On March 10, NBI operatives discovered the hideout of the suspects from the kidnap victim himself, who was released near another gaming facility also in Paranaque city.

Five of the suspects were arrested at  Balagtas Royal Mansions in Pasay City, while two others, , Luo Gen Jin and Cheng Yiguo were nabbed in a third gaming facility also in Paranaque City.

Appropriate charges will be filed against the arrested Chinese nationals.  / gsg
