Poe asks voters to choose mix of bets for balance in Senate

BACOLOD CITY – Senator Grace Poe is urging the public to put a balance in the Senate by voting for a mix of candidates who would really work for the good of the country.
Since there are 12 Senate seats to be filled in the May polls, Poe said she kept telling people that it would be good if there was a balance with not everybody coming from one party only.
“A balance in the Senate would be for the advantage of everyone. One party will always push for a straight slate,” said Poe, who was here on a campaign trail.
Although an independent candidate, Poe campaigned for some senatorial candidates whom she believed would really work in the Senate.
She cited former senator Serge Osmena, her mentor, and all the reelectionist senators Juan Edgardo Angara, Nancy Binay, Joseph Victor Ejercito, Aquilino Pimentel III, Cynthia Villar, and Bam Aquino.

Poe said it was also good to add opposition senators.
Poe, who has consistently topped the Senate surveys, began her day on Tuesday by campaigning at the Burgos Public Market to the delight of vendors and consumers.
Many of them called her their idol along with her parents, Negrense actress Susan Roces, and the late Fernando Poe Jr.
As an independent candidate, she said it is easier for her to go around because her schedule is her own.
“On the other hand there are challenges because you don’t really have the machinery,” she said.
Poe said she asked the voters to choose her because, aside from her track record, she had been truthful in her work.
“As my tagline goes, ‘Mabait sa Totoo, Galit sa Manloloko,’” she added.
“If I sense that people are treated unjustly and there’s unfairness I speak out. I feel that I have been very fair in all of my dealings in the Senate,” she added.
Poe also joined a boodle fight with barangay leaders in Barangay Banago, a youth forum in Barangay Estefania and, along with her mother, had brunch with barangay leaders.
