MANILA, Philippines — It’s a “double tragedy” if the brother of businessman Dominic Sytin was indeed behind his assassination, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri said on Monday.
“If it is confirmed that it is truly Dominic’s brother, then his death is a double tragedy,” Zubiri said in a viber message to reporters.
“Maybe a victory for justice but a sad and tragic one for the family,” he added.
The senator, nevertheless, thanked the Philippine National Police, “for its relentless pursuit of justice for the Sytin Family no matter who was guilty.”
Zubiri was among the first to condemn the killing of Sytin, founder and chief executive officer of United Auctioneers Inc., who was gunned down outside a hotel in Subic last November.

Early this Monday, the PNP tagged Sytin’s brother, Dennis, as the alleged mastermind in his murder based on the testimony of an alleged gunman.
The police identified the gunman as Edgardo Luib, who was arrested in Batangas last March 5. /je
