MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo should not comment on the issue of honesty given that her honesty has been put into question by the public, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said on Saturday.
The statement of the President’s daughter and Davao City mayor was issued after Robredo said that honesty is a “huge factor” in determining one’s integrity.
“Her honesty has been questioned since day one of her term as Vice President. She is not called fake VP for no reason. She has tried to copy her late husband but has failed at every turn. She is facing an electoral protest for massive fraud during the 2016 elections,” Duterte-Carpio said in a statement.
“She has refused to answer allegations of her relationship with a married man. She may or may not get away with these but we all know she is not forthcoming in everything,” she added.
Duterte-Carpio was referring to the election protest filed by defeated vice presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos before the Supreme Court, accusing Robredo of cheating during the 2016 national elections.

Robredo denied these accusations and asked the court to deny Marcos’ appeal for technical examination of voting records in three provinces in Mindanao where alleged massive cheating took place during the 2016 elections.

With this, Duterte-Carpio said that if Robredo continue to insist that honesty is an integral factor for someone seeking a position in the government, then Robredo herself should bid farewell to her presidential dreams.
“The reason why good moral character is not a requirement to run for Vice President is because we have so many Leni Robredos in this world,” she said.
“And if she insists in saying that you have to be honest to run for public office, then she must say goodbye to her dreams of becoming president,” Duterte-Carpio added. /jpv
