Caloocan fire displaces 33 families; probers suggest arson 

MANILA, Philippines–Thirty-three families were displaced when 11 houses in Caloocan City were gutted by a fire, which investigators said could be a case of arson.

A report from the Caloocan City Police said the police station received a telephone call regarding a fire incident in Pangarap Village, Barangay 181 at around 12:45 a.m.

Police then informed the Caloocan City headquarters of the Bureau of Fire Protection, which deployed fire trucks at around 1:28 a.m. The fire was contained at around 2:51 a.m.

According to Fire Officer 1 Cedrick Pardinas, arson investigator, witnesses surfaced and informed authorities that the blaze was intentionally perpetrated by four men who wore bonnets. 

Pardinas said that assorted clothes reeking with suspected petroleum were recovered from the area. 

Investigators also found two different areas where the fire supposedly originated. /jpv
