1 dead in Calbayog City blaze

ORMOC CITY – A 31-year-old man with Down syndrome perished when fire broke out in a residential area in Barangay Dagum, Calbayog City, Samar on Thursday.
Joshua Redullas was sleeping on the second floor of the family residence when the fire broke out at 1:28 p.m., according to Calbayog City Fire Marshall Fire Insp. Walter E. Magbutay.
His father, Emenio, 59, suffered minor burns when he tried to get inside the house to save his son.
A neighbor, Juanito Navarro, was likewise injured when he tried to rescue the fatality.
Marquez said in a phone interview that the fire also damaged or destroyed six other houses. / gsg
