MANILA, Philippines — A Naga City village councilor tagged as a high value drug target was killed in a shooting incident in Makati City, police said.
The Makati City Police Station identified the victim as Barangay (village) Tinago councilor Fortune Isaac Imperial, 28, who was onboard his black Mitsubishi Mirage when two motorcycle-riding gunmen shot him at around 11 p.m. on Monday.
According to police, the assailants tailed Imperial’s vehicle from Pasay City until it reached Makati City.
Police said the victim was rushed to Saint Claire Hospital but died on Wednesday around 9 p.m.

Imperial’s driver and another companion at the backseat were unharmed from the incident, according to police.
Police also said investigation showed that the victim was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tinago, Naga City in November 2018.
Colonel Rogelio Simon, chief of the Makati City Police Station, said that the victim was reportedly freed after the dismissal of his case.
Simon said he has ordered an investigation into the case. Police have also launched a manhunt against the perpetrators of the crime. /je
