MANILA, Philippines — Luzon was placed under Yellow Alert on Thursday due to insufficient operating energy reserve, the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has announced.
In a Twitter post on Thursday, Meralco said the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) placed the Luzon Grid under Yellow Alert starting from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Yellow Alert means that reserve power is low, Meralco explained.

Meralco advised residents to be “energy efficient” to help prevent brownouts.
Residents should avoid the unnecessary opening and closing the refrigerator door, clean electric fan blades and air conditioning vents, and unplug all appliances that are not in use.
Meanwhile, corporations and commercial establishments under the Meralco’s “Interruptible Load Program” can use their generators to prevent power outages in case of supply deficiency. /muf
