Today, March 7, is the 34th death anniversary of National Artist in Painting Victorio Edades.
Born on Dec. 23, 1895, he is considered the Father of Modern Philippine Painting.
In the 1930s, Edades taught at the University of Santo Tomas and became dean of its Department of Architecture for three decades.
Among his notable works were “The Artist and the Model,” “Portrait of the Professor” and “The Wrestlers.”
