After cops’ arrest, PNP says it has no place for scalawags
MANILA, Philippines — After the arrest of two alleged rouge police officers over robbery-extortion and kidnap-for-ransom charges, the Philippine National Police (PNP) assured on Wednesday that misfits have no place in the police force.
“We assure the public that the guilty ones will be jailed and dismissed from the service, for such kind of personnel have no place in the PNP. We never tolerate anyone of our colleagues for committing illegal acts or crimes,” PNP spokesperson Colonel Bernard Banac said in a statement.
On Tuesday night, Corporal Marlo Siblao Quibete of the Eastern Police District was arrested in an entrapment operation in Pasig City for allegedly extorting cash from a woman in exchange for dropping drug charges against her live-in partner.

PNP chief General Oscar Albayalde has directed Major General Guillermo Eleazar, director of the National Capital Region Police Office, to speed up the criminal and administrative proceedings against the suspects.
“We call on our people to continue to remain supportive, alert, and vigilant even as we perform our mandate to enforce the law and maintain peace and order,” Banac said, as he also thanked the public for reporting misdeeds committed by the police. /ee
