MANILA, Philippines – The Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) Cavite extension project will finally start next month, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced Monday.
In a Facebook post, the DOTr announced that the construction of the 11.7-kilometer railway extension, including eight new stations, will start in April.
“Magsisimula na ngayong Abril ang actual construction ng LRT-1 Cavite Extension na magdurugtong sa Baclaran at Bacoor, Cavite,” the DOTr said in its Facebook page.
The extension project will link LRT-1’s Baclaran station to Bacoor, Cavite.
Eight new stations would cut through the cities of Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Cavite province.
The DOTr and the Light Rail Manila Corporation Manila Corporation (LRMC) aims to finish the construction by the fourth quarter of 2021.
The extension is expected to increase the daily passenger load of LRT-1 from 300,000 to 800,000, the DOTr said. / gsg
