FPJPM backs 7 independent, HNP candidates for senator

MANILA, Philippines — The Filipinos for Peace, Justice and Progress Movement (FPJPM) has endorsed seven senatorial candidates for the May 2019 elections.

FPJPM announced on Monday they would endorse independent reelectionists Senator Grace Poe and former Senator Serge Osmeña and members of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) slate reelectionist Senator Sonny Angara, former Senators Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada, former special assistant to the president Christopher “Bong” Go and former police general Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.

“Parang kay FPJ [Fernando Poe Jr.]. Makamasa. Matulungin. At inaasahang magsisilbing tapat sa gobyerno,” FPJPM head Boots Cadsawan told reporters when asked what qualifications the group looked for when they chose their candidates.

Cadsawan said these senatorial bets were the general consensus from the provincial and regional chapters of FPJPM.

Furthermore, Cadsawan explained, “Ganito gagawin namin, katulad ng ginawa namin kay Senator Grace Poe, nag-single voting kasi kami noon e. So kami, ngayon, pito lang talaga ang iboboto namin.”

In attendance at the proclamation of support held in San Juan city were actor Cesar Montano, who represented Go, Angara, Estrada, Revilla and Brian Poe Llamanzares, who represented Poe.

FPJPM worked behind the presidential campaign of the late actor Fernando Poe Jr. in 2004. It also supported the presidential run of Senator Grace Poe in 2016. /cbb
