MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday mocked the Senate slate of the opposition’s “Otso Diretso,” saying they would go straight to hell.

In his speech during the campaign rally of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) in Zamboanga City, Duterte slammed the senatorial candidate of the opposition for doing nothing but to criticize his administration.

“Sinong ipalit mo diyan sa [kanila]? ‘Yang Otso Deretso papuntang impiyerno,” he said, eliciting laughter from the crowd.

“Totoo lang, walang ginawa ‘yang mga tao na ‘yan puro criticize,” he added.

The President hit the opposition slate for being supporters of the communist rebels.

“Erin Tañada? And proud sila diyan sa Left. They think that it’s popular. Tingnan mo ang kakapal ng mukha. Gagawa pa ng ticket Otso Diretso,” he said.

The President also hit lawyer Romulo Macalintal.

“Macalintal abugado. Abugado ka lang kung may pera ka. Papasok diyan wala kang pera,” he said.

He also mocked reelectionist Sen. Bam Aquino saying he only looked like his uncle former senator Benigno Aquino Jr.

“Kamukha ka lang. Pero ‘yung… Ano bang… Ano bang signifikante na nagawa mo? What have you done that is really impressive? Puro kayo oposisyon, puro kayo saway,” he said.

He also assailed former rival in the 2016 presidential elections and now seeking a Senate run Manuel “Mar” Roxas II.

“Mar Roxas. Susmaryosep. Hambugero man ito. Pagpasok niya doon sa Cebu, sabi niya “Oh Mar Roxas.” Ganun kaagad siya. Kita niya si Justice Zubiri. “Hi Justice Zubiri, good morning,” he said.

“Sabi ko mayabang – mga justice lang ang kilala niya,” he added.

He further mocked Roxas, saying he won’t even beat former assistant to the president Christopher “Bong” Go in the senatorial race.

“Sabi ko, tama ka na Mar, yaya ka lang. Ewan ko kung gawain ninyong senador. Wala na ito. Napakita na niya. Kung ‘yung kampanya ipinakita niya ang the best niya, hindi siya manalo kay Bong, sa totoo lang,” he said.

The President said Roxas had done nothing despite having held various Cabinet positions in different administrations.

“Ano mang nagawa ni Mar? Kayo tanungin ko kayo. Kayong nag-Liberal, magtanong lang ako sa’yo, anong nagawa niya? Ano ang nagawa niya naiwan niya sa bayan? Secretary of Trade, kay Aquino — ah kay Macapagal. Tapos lukso siya sa … Pagkatapos eleksyon, lukso siya doon kay Aquino, Secretary of Finance. Tapos Secretary of Communications. Tapos DILG,” he said.

“Nadaanan man niya lahat ‘yan. Tapos porma. Ano ang nagawa niya?” he added.

He also told the public not to make a mistake of voting Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano.

“Alejano, walang sense talaga magsalita. Marunong mag-English kasi PMAer eh. Lelechonin talaga ‘yan sila doon,” he said.

“Kaya huwag kayong magkamali ‘yang Magdalo na ‘yan. Tingnan mo Magdalo nag-revolt diyan sa Makati, sigaw-sigaw pa si Trillanes, pagdating ng pulis, nag- surrender,’ he added.

Duterte also did not spare Chel Diokno from his attacks as he mocked how the human rights lawyer speak.

“Lalo na ito si Diokno, ‘yung Diokno ‘yung… Sus magsalita. Kalayo niya sa tatay niya. ‘Yung si W. Diokno,” he said.

“Tignan mo magsalita. Wala. Walang ka ano,” he added.

The chief executive mentioned Samira Gutoc, the only woman in the opposition, but refused to make comments about her.

“Si Samira, babae man ’yan, ayaw ko magsalita diyan. Ang rule ay pagka babae kalaban mo, you just shut up. Samira Ali Gutoc. So I have nothing to say to you, ma’am,” he said.

Duterte also questioned the qualification of senatorial aspirant and former solicitor general Florin Hilbay as he praised his former presidential adviser for political affairs Francis Tolentino.

“Sino diyan sa lahat makatalo ni Tolentino in terms of qualification? Sige nga. Magsabi ka ng kandidato. Macalintal, Hilbay, si Tañada, sige daw,” he said. /cbb
