MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) recorded a lower number of fire incidents for the first two months of 2019.
Fire Inspector Gabriel Solano of BFP said on Sunday that the agency tallied 348 less fire incidents nationwide from January to February compared to the same period last year.
“Last year, nakapagtala tayo ng 2,577. Yan ay simula January 1 hanggang February 20,” Solano said in a Balitaan sa Maynila news forum.
“Same period this year, nakapagtala lang po tayo ng 2,229. Mas mababa ng halos sabihin natin nasa 300,” he added.
Meanwhile, the BFP also recorded a lower number of fire incidents for the first two days of March compared to last year.
According to the data of the agency, Solano said that only 12 fire incidents were recorded by the BFP this year compared to around 20 last year.
He attributed the reduction of fire cases nationwide to the efforts of the BFP in conducting seminars and programs in several areas.
March has been declared as the Fire Prevention Month due to the number of fire incidents during the said month.
