JV Ejercito says he is Ok with debates, if invited
LEGAZPI CITY — Senator JV Ejercito said on Saturday he would take the challenge of the opposition group “Otso Diretso” for debate once personally invited.
“Personally I cannot speak for my colleagues, I join debates if allowed,” Ejercito said in a press conference on Saturday evening here said.
Ejercito, who is seeking for re-election for senator, was here to grace an event by the local JCI.
Ejercito was referring to the debates sponsored by television networks like CNN, GMA, and ABS-CBN.
His reaction came as the senatorial slate of the administration Hugpong ng Pagbabago failed to attend the opposition challenge debate at the Plaza Miranda in Quiapo, Manila.
He said he would be attending on Sunday the debate program by the ABS-CBN over DZMM and ANC.
When asked if in case the opposition would invite him for a debate challenge, Ejercito said, “Why not?”
“I have nothing to be afraid of, wala akong tinatago. Halos lahat ng major debate events pinupuntahan ko (I have nothing to hide. I attend almost all major debate events),” he added. /lzb
