The Philippine Coast Guard impounded a suspected North Korean cargo ship, MV Jin Teng, to enforce a new round of tougher UN sanctions introduced two days before, in response to Pyongyang’s nuclear and ballistic missile tests.
The 4,355-ton vessel docked in Subic Bay in Zambales province was inspected by Philippine authorities to ensure that it had no dangerous cargo.
The Philippine move was the first reported case of the sanctions that the UN Security Council adopted on March 2, 2016.
The United States and China spent weeks negotiating new sanctions, which included mandatory inspections of cargo leaving and entering North Korea by land, sea or air.
The impounded vessel was among the 31 ships owned by the North Korean company Ocean Maritime Management, which the United Nations identified as part of the “asset freeze” against North Korea.
The cargo ship was released on March 24, 2016.

Filipino rebels led by Daniel Maramba liberated the town of Santa Barbara in Pangasinan province from Spanish conquerors.
Maramba expanded his operations to the towns of Malasiqui and Mapandan as well as the city of Urdaneta.
Other revolutionary leaders such as Vicente del Prado and Juan Quesada launched their attacks against the Spaniards in the western part of Pangasinan, including the municipalities of Mabini (formerly Balincaguin) and Anda.
