SWS: Most Filipinos fear being EJK victim
MANILA, Philippines — Most Filipinos fear that they or anyone they know will be a victim of extrajudicial killings (EJK) in the government’s bloody drug war, a recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey result showed.

The poll, conducted on Dec. 16 to 19, 2018, showed that 78 percent of Filipinos were worried that they or someone they know might be a victim of extrajudicial killing while 22 percent were not worried.

SWS said this was a 5-point increase from the 73 percent recorded in June 2017.

Specifically, 42 percent were very worried and 36 percent were somewhat worried. Meanwhile, nine percent were not too worried and 13 percent were not worried at all.

The survey interviewed 1,440 respondents aged 18 years and above. Three hundred sixty people have been interviewed each in Balance Luzon, Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The December 2018 survey asked its respondents: “Gaano po kayo nangangamba na kayo o sino mang kilala ninyo ay maging biktima ng ‘extrajudicial killing’ o EJK  (How worried are you that you or anyone you know will be a victim of extrajudicial killing or EJK)? /ee
