MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck the coast of Davao Occidental on Friday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its initial bulletin, Phivolcs reported that the temblor hit 42 kilometers (km) southwest of Sarangani, Davao Occidental at 9:00 a.m.
The quake of tectonic origin had a depth of 175 km.
Phivolcs said no aftershocks or damage could be expected from the earthquake. /muf
