Diokno won’t be effective in any other position—senator

MANILA, Philippines—Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said it would not be advisable for President Benigno Aquino III to appoint the resigned head of the Bureau of Corrections to another government post.

“Personally, I don’t think it’s advisable since he (Ernesto Diokno) resigned due to a very controversial and anomalous issue,” Lacson told reporters on Tuesday.

“I don’t think that he will be that effective anymore in any position that he may be appointed to. Kasi pilay na e (It’s because he is already lame),” he said, reacting to Aquino’s statement that he might still consider Diokno for another post.

Diokno tendered his resignation Monday, following the discovery of a high-profile prisoner (former Batangas Governor Anotnio Leviste) moving around Makati City.—Maila Ager
