DID YOU KNOW: March is Rabies Awareness Month

Rabies Awareness Month is observed every March by virtue of Executive Order No. 84 signed on March 13, 1999 by then President Joseph Estrada.

According to the latest statistics from the Department of Health, a total of 1,176 rabies cases were reported from Jan. 1, 2014 to June 30, 2018.

In the National Capital Region, 70 cases were reported during the same period, peaking in 2015 which saw 22 cases. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
