Pantino secures U12 title

CEBUANO Arthur Craig  Pantino suffered contrasting fates in his stint in the 2nd Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Tournament in Metro Manila.

The University of San Carlos – South Campus (USC-SC) student had no trouble bagging the 12-under title but failed in the 14-under category.

In the 12-under, where he is seeded third, Pantino routed Marcus del Rosario, 6-2, 6-0, to bring home the title and the 200 points at stake.

In the 14-under category, putting an end to Pantino’s two-title hopes was Mikio Shimomura, who outsmarted the fifth seed with a 3-6, 4-6 victory.

Pantino will be coming home next week for the holidays and might see action in a local tournament after Christmas.

Just a day after the New Year, Pantino will immediately head back to Manila to compete in the Andrada Cup and the second leg of the 2nd PSC Tournament.

His mother Lourdes said that they might also let Pantino compete in a new tournament—the Willie Hernandez net.  But this has yet to be confirmed because it coincides with Pantino’s school quarterly examinations. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
