Typhoon “Wutip” is moving slowly northwest and could enter the Philippine area of responsibility either on Wednesday or Thursday, when it would be christened “Betty.”

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the storm was at least 1,726 kilometers east of southern Luzon as of 4 p.m. on Monday.

Wutip carries maximum sustained winds of 185 km per hour and gustiness of up to 225 kph, weather specialist Aldcar Aurelio said. —Matthew Reysio-Cruz
