80,000 fuel vouchers for jeepney drivers still unclaimed

05:00 AM February 25, 2019

Over 80,000 registered jeepney franchise holders have yet to claim their fuel subsidy from the government, according to Sen. Juan Edgardo Angara.

The government had offered the financial aid, officially called the Pantawid Pasada Program, through fuel vouchers to mitigate the adverse effects of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion law, which imposed excise taxes on fuel.

Each qualified operator of a public utility jeepney is entitled to a financial assistance of P20,514 this year.

In 2018, they ceived P5,000 each. The Department of Finance said that less than half of the 155,337 available fuel vouchers had been given out since Jan. 15. —Marlon Ramos
