Feb. 24 to 28: Cagsawa Festival
A festival at Daraga town in Albay province commemorating the 1814 eruption of Mayon volcano and celebrating the resilience of its residents.
The festivities kick off at the famed Cagsawa Ruins Park, one of the province’s popular attractions.
Activities include a trail run, a concert and a beauty pageant.
Feb. 24 to 28: Dia de la Ciudad de Zamboanga
The city of Zamboanga in Zamboanga del Sur province, one of the oldest cities in the country, celebrates its 82nd charter anniversary.
A film festival, fun run, cheer dance competition, civic-military parade and drum and lyre competition are held.
Top Zamboangueño achievers are also feted in the festival.
Feb. 28: Festival of Lights
Culmination of the much-awaited festival in Ipil, capital of Zamboanga Sibugay province, and the province’s 18th founding anniversary.
The festival, which ran for over three months, featured a theme park with replicas of popular landmarks abroad such as Eiffel Tower in France, Petronas Towers in Malaysia and Taj Mahal in India.
