MANILA, Philippines —  The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) unveiled on Saturday the commemorative stamps honoring Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.

Norman Fulgencio, chairman of the board of PHLPost said during the launching at Novotel Araneta Center that the Catriona Gray stamp is a way of recognizing her after winning the Miss Universe title.

“This momentous occasion is an opportunity for us to recognize her in raising the Philippine flag, and championing Filipino pride in the global stage,” Fulgencio said.

“Indeed you have made us proud. Your victory is a testament to the faith and resiliency of the Filipinos,” he added.

The stamps feature the two iconic pictures of Gray after her win during the Miss Universe 2018 pageant night.

One of the stamps shows her first official photo as the new queen of the universe while the other shows the first walk after the announcement.

“We hope you will be our ambassador in promoting this precious stamps to bring back the interest of our children as well as our stamp collectors all over the world to patronize our own Philippine stamps,” Fulgencio told Gray.

Gray, on the other hand, said that when she was still a little girl, she used to collect stamps and send letters to her friends.

Now that Gray has her own stamp, she said that she “can’t wait to share [it] with [her] family.”

When asked on who would be the first person whom Gray would send a letter to with her stamp on it, she said that it would be her parents.

“At the moment, they are in Toronto, Canada so it would have to travel a fair way and I’m sure anyone handling it in the post office would be ‘Oh,'” Gray said.

The commemorative stamps of Gray will be available to public starting Wednesday, February 27.

The postal stamp costs P12 while the special stamp will cost P55 with an embellished crown and lava gown.

PHLPost also issued special stamps to honor previous Miss Universe title holders namely: Gloria Diaz, Margarita Moran, and Pia Wurtzbach. /jpv
