Kris Aquino, ex-business partner trade raps

MANILA, Philippines–Actress and television host Kris Aquino filed a counter-affidavit seeking to dismiss two counts of grave threats filed against her by former business partner Nicko Falcis and younger brother Jesus in the Office of the City Prosecutor of Quezon City on Feb. 22.

The elder Falcis, the former managing director of Kris C. Aquino Productions, and his lawyer brother lodged the complaint after Aquino made a death threat against the former over the phone on Sept. 27, 2018.

In the recording of the phone call, a woman on the other end of the line said: “Dare to step in this country and you will be dead.”

Aquino later confirmed that she was indeed the woman heard in the viral recording.

She added that was the last time she spoke to the 35-year-old Falcis.

‘Heat of passion’

“There is no truth against the allegations of our client. Whatever harsh words that were said were said in the heat of passion,” said Aquino’s lawyer Eloisa Sy.

“I think my reaction was normal, although I apologize that I brought my family into the conversation,” Aquino told members of the media.

Sons Josh and Bimby were also present at the fiscal’s office.

Aquino added that the controversial phone call transpired at a “very emotional moment for me”—when she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.

“In the heat of the moment, I said things that I should not have said,” Aquino said.

It took Falcis over three months to file a complaint, which meant that the former employee was not really threatened, Aquino said.

“I’m telling the truth and the truth, I believe, is on my side,” she added.
