MANILA, Philippines — Nineteen couples from the Philippine National Police (PNP) tied the knot in a mass wedding in Camp Crame on Wednesday.
PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde and his wife Cherrylyn served as principal sponsors to couples composed of 14 police non-commissioned officers and five non-uniformed personnel, according to Senior Supt. Noel Ponsaran, officer-in-charge of the PNP Chaplain Service.
“This mass wedding day offered to our personnel clearly manifests our commitment not only to be credible, effective, and efficient law enforcement officers but also to be responsible, God-centered and loving husband and wife of family,” Albayalde said during his speech at the wedding ceremony.
The wedding ceremony held at the St. Joseph Chapel inside the police camp and the reception were sponsored by the PNP leadership.
Rev. Msgr. Albert Songco, Vicar General for the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Military Ordinariate, officiated the mass wedding.
Albayalde said the mass wedding held in the camp aims to celebrate love for family as an inspiration for police officers “in fulfilling their duties and to live with the guidance of the eminence of God.” /muf
