Debt collector shot dead in Eastern Samar

ORMOC CITY — A collector of a lending company was shot dead by a still unidentified person in San Julian town, Eastern Samar.

The victim was identified as Gerald Kim Lejis, 23,  a resident of Calbayog City in Samar who worked at ASA lending company.

Senior Inspector Wilfredo Monsanto, San Julian police chief, said in a phone interview that personal grudge could be the motive in the killing because the gunman did not take the victim’s bag containing P10,540.

The victim was shot in the head in Sitio Palo-Uno, Barangay Putong, San Julian around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Monsanto said the victim was collecting payments in the village when shot. Recovered from the crime scene was one spent shell of a .45 caliber pistol. /ee
