Task force to construct 4,500 temporary shelters in Marawi by 2019

MANILA, Philippines — Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) said on Tuesday that it is looking to construct about 4,500 temporary shelter units for people who have been displaced by the Marawi siege in 2017.

TFBM chairman Eduardo del Rosario said that as of January this year, the government has provided a total of 2,000 temporary shelter units for the residents.

Another 500 units will be awarded by March and around 2,000 more units by the end of the year.

“We are targetting by the end of the year to have 4,000 to 4,500 temporary shelter units that can be given to residents displaced by the Marawi siege,” Del Rosario said in a press briefing.

He said the temporary shelter units are unique as they are the “subdivision type” dwellings with drainage system and shared facilities. /ee
