MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Tourism (DOT) unveiled on Monday a custom-made tourism font which drew inspiration from local signages.
In a recent video posted on its Facebook page, the DOT said the new typeface, inspired by the “hand-painted” style from the signages seen in the country’s streets and beaches, was designed for easy reading.
The DOT also described the new font as “more fun, more Pinoy typeface” which celebrates “sign-painters all over the country.”
“Signs are more fun in the Philippines. From streets to sandy beaches. Hand-painted in an inexact individual style. This inspired our new tourism font called Barabara,” the text from the video read.
The new font, which can be downloaded for free from the DOT website, offers 27 character and local symbols. /ee
