DAGUPAN CITY— Sixteen people were hurt, four of them seriously injured, when the vehicle they were riding in fell on its side as it traversed the Naguilian Road in Bauang town in La Union province on Sunday, police said.
Walter Lamusao, 30, driver of the vehicle, and passengers Marlon Allado, 50, Cesar Annot, 51, and Anncele Herrera, 68, were bloodied when rescuers took them to the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center in San Fernando City, according to PO3 Juanario Corpuz Jr., Bauang police investigator.
The accident happened while the vehicle was traversing Barangay Ballay in Bauang at about 2 p.m. Corpuz said Lamusao lost control of the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to swerve and fall on its side into a canal at the right side of the road. The group, who traveled from Solana town in Cagayan province, was supposed to attend a wedding of a relative in Bauang.
Corpuz said the other passengers suffered bruises and other minor injuries and were treated at the Naguilian District Hospital in Naguilian, La Union. /kga
