MANILA, Philippines — An estimated three trucks of garbage were collected by personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) during its clean-up operations in Manila Bay.
Fire Officer 3 Leo Azores of the Operations department of BFP National Capital Region (NCR) said on Monday that most of the trash collected were styrofoam and plastics.
He said that according to the record, about 293 personnel from different cities and municipality of NCR BFP participated in the clean up drive held in Manila Bay behind Manila Film Center last Sunday.
Azores also noted that the clean-up drive, led by NCR Fire Director Senior Superintendent Wilberto Kwan Tiu, was part of the rehabilitation project in a bid to restore the beauty of Manila Bay.
Prior to the start of the clean up operations at 6 a.m., a physical fitness program was first conducted by participating personnel.
The clean-up operations ended at 10 a.m., Azores said. /je
