MANILA, Philippines — A small block of cocaine worth P5.2 million was discovered near the shoreline of the town of Paracale in Camarines Norte.
The find came a week from Feb. 10, 2019, when fishermen plucked a brick of cocaine off the town of Vinzons, which is adjacent to Paracale. The cocaine was estimated to cost P5.4 million.
On Feb. 11, another fisherman found another brick of cocaine near the shores of Vinzons. It weighed 839 grams and was worth P4.5 million.
Early on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, a resident saw the block of cocaine wrapped in brown duct tape, a regional police official was quoted as saying over dzBB on Sunday.
The substance was turned over to the local police and underwent the examination of the provincial crime laboratory.
It was confirmed that the substance weighing 989.23 grams was cocaine with an estimated market value of P5,242,919. Stephanie Florida /cbb
