MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.2 quake struck Surigao del Norte on Friday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the quake was an aftershock of the magnitude 5.9 quake that hit the province last Friday, Feb. 8.
In its initial bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor hit 53 kilometers (km) southeast of General Luna, Surigao del Norte at 5:24 a.m.
No damage and aftershocks were expected from the tectonic quake that was recorded to be 9 kilometers deep. /muf
