MANILA, Philippines — Chinese national Zhang Jiale was released from detention on Tuesday after posting bail for her temporary liberty.
Eastern Police District Director Chief Superintendent Bernabe Balba confirmed that Zhang posted bail at 4:30 p.m. She was immediately released from police custody.
After her release, she met representatives from the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
Zhang has been charged in court with direct assault after she threw a cup of taho (soy curd) snack at a police officer who refused her entry at the MRT Boni Avenue station last Saturday.
The BI’s Legal Division has also recommended her deportation for being a risk to the public interest. /ee
