MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo and former President Benigno Aquino III attended on Tuesday a Mass sponsored by the Otso Diretso coalition at the San Roque Cathedral in Caloocan City.
Aside from Robredo and Aquino, Senators Risa Hontiveros and Antonio Trillanes IV also showed up during the Mass for Otso Diretso candidates.
Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano, re-electionist Senator Bam Aquino, human rights lawyer Chel Diokno, Marawi civic leader Samira Gutoc, former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay, election lawyer Romulo Macalintal, and former Deputy Speaker Erin Tañada were also present.
Former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas was in his hometown Capiz province for a separate kick-off event.
Before the concelebrated Mass led by Bishop Emeritus Deogracias Iñiguez, the senatorial bets started their face-to-face campaign around houses and shops near the cathedral.
The Otso Diretso is made up of different political parties, namely Liberal Party (LP), Magdalo, Aksyon Demokratiko, and Akbayan. /ee
