SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga—Kiss a Kapampangan woman to learn their language faster, former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief and now senatorial aspirant Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said Tuesday.
Speaking before the vote-rich province of Pampanga during the Hugpong ng Pagbabago’s (HNP) initial campaign event, Dela Rosa joked that he once courted a Kapampangan woman when he was still studying at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).

Dela Rosa, however, said that the woman rejected him that is why he ended up without any knowledge of the Kapampangan language.
“Sabi nila ang pinakamabilis na paraan para matuto ka ng salitang Kapampangan ay makipag lips-to-lips ka palagi ng Kapampangan para mabilis ‘yung transfer ng kaalaman,” Dela Rosa said in jest.
“Eh, kaso binasted ako. Wala ‘di ako matuto (ng Kapampangan),” he added.
During the same event, Dela Rosa also said that though he was just a policeman without “experience” in legislative duties, he joins the midterm elections with a “clean heart.”
“Wala akong maipagmalaki sa inyo. Wala ako kayamanan, wala akong experience, pulis lang ako. Pero I come with a clean heart. Malinis ang puso ko kahit buksan nyo pa ito,” he said. /jpv
