Sara Duterte’s ‘Hugpong’ kicks off campaign in Pampanga
SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago party (HNP) kicks off its 90-day election campaign on Tuesday here in the province of Pampanga.
HNP’s initial campaign event is set in San Fernando Provincial Capitol grounds, to be attended by Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda and House Speaker Gloria Arroyo.
Duterte-Carpio’s party is also set to stage a separate campaign rally in Angeles City on Tuesday afternoon.
Pampanga is the bailiwick Pineda, chair of regional party Kambilan, which sealed an alliance with the HNP last year.
The presidential daughter’s party is endorsing 13 candidates for senator in the May elections, namely: Senators Cynthia Villar, Koko Pimentel, Sonny Angara and JV Ejercito; former senators Jinggoy Estrada, Bong Revilla and Pia Cayetano; Maguindanao Rep. Zajid Mangudadatu, Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, former police chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, former presidential aide Bong Go, former presidential political adviser Francis Tolentino and journalist Jiggy Manicad.
Article continues after this advertisementAfter the Pampanga events, HNP will hold campaign sorties in other areas of Central and Northern Luzon before holding events in Metro Manila.
Earlier, Duterte-Carpio said HNP was eyeing to stage at least 110 campaign sorties for the upcoming midterm polls. /cbb
